Today’s picture shows a pleasure cruiser passing the Tower of London. It is another from my sister Mary’s Thames side collection.
After a promising start when I managed to mow the drying green and assist by being the cable carrier while Mrs Tootlepedal mowed round the greenhouse, the day went downhill.
I took a few flower pictures. I tried to use my tripod to get some really sharp pictures….
…but the results were rather disappointing because I just don’t have the patience to set everything up correctly. I quickly went back to holding the camera in the hand and started chasing bees. They weren’t hard to find
By the time that I had done this for ten minutes or so, my back was giving me severe grief and I retired indoors for a sit down and basically didn’t get up again for several hours as the pain wouldn’t go away. This is a long standing complaint and nothing to get worried about but it is annoying when it strikes. It has been lurking in the background for a few days and the long pedal probably didn’t help it but I think it was most likely caused by lifting a heavy box of library books for the choir on Wednesday.
Luckily, I had a large and complicated holiday weekend crossword to occupy me. Irritatingly I am left with a single clue laughing at me.
I went out into the garden in the early evening and was surprised to see black spots all over a mint plant by the greenhouse.
Closer inspection revealed that the spots were a myriad of little flying objects.
Curious. They weren’t there in the morning.
I snapped a marigold which I thought looked nice….
…and then retired indoors again. Mrs Tootlepedal made a delicious meal for our tea and I am now heading for a relaxing bath and an early bed as we have a cream tea at Chapelknowe to cycle to tomorrow and I want to be fit for that.
I did almost catch a flying bird.
