After a day of gently walking about the streets of London, I inadvertently fell asleep before posting, thus spoiling my policy of a post for every day. I have woken up in the early hours so I will put a little gallery of our morning walk without further comment.

Child’s play
The chief business of the day was visit to the Barbican Centre with Evie, her parents, and her other grandmother to see a performance of My Neighbour Totoro. It was a great delight and even if you haven’t got a handy child about you, if you get the opportunity to see it, I would suggestContinue reading “Child’s play”
Safe arrival
The bus was on time, the train was not busy to say the least … . . . it was on time and the views were good . . . . . . and we arrived in good time to wish our daughter a happy birthday and give our granddaughter a hug. All in all,Continue reading “Safe arrival”
Logged off
Today’s guest picture comes from our son Tony in sunny East Wemyss. It shows his dogs having fun beside the sea. It didn’t look much like a day for fun here, as it was quite wet and very windy when we got up. Everything looked damp and dismal after a pretty soggy night. Our dayContinue reading “Logged off”
Up in the air
Today’s guest picture comes from David, one of my walking companions on a fine hill walk today. It shows Mark and an old gentleman making good use of walking poles. (Today’s header picture was taken by Mark.) The main business of the day was getting up into the hills. My walking friend Mark and hisContinue reading “Up in the air”
Great relations
The chief business of the day was a visit by Mrs Tootlepedal’s brother and his wife for lunch. The lunch went well and Evie enjoyed meeting her great aunt and great uncle. The day was too hot for anything energetic so after the visitors left, we took the rest of the day very gently. NotContinue reading “Great relations”
Hot work
For us peely wally northerners, it was a bit hot here today so we kept fairly quiet. We did do some rose dead heading in Annie’s garden and I planted some gladiolus bulbs and watered them in. Before I arrived when it was a bit cooler, Mrs T dug up a philadelphus. They put theContinue reading “Hot work”
Down South
I said goodbye to the garden this morning . . . . . . and caught the bus to Carlisle and the train to London. Both were perfectly on time. A ride on the underground reunited me with Mrs Tootlepedal at our daughter’ house, and after admiring the ripening figs in the garden . .Continue reading “Down South”
Charging, a castle and chips
After breakfast, Mrs Tootlepedal, Tony and I drove in the Zoe a mile and a bit down the coast where we found a charging point that worked and promised to fully charge the car in a couple of hours. Leaving the car to charge we walked back to East Wemyss along the coastal path, enjoyingContinue reading “Charging, a castle and chips”
A very satisfactory day
We set off to visit East Wemyss after breakfast with a little trepidation as 110 miles is a long way to drive these days. The car behaved perfectly and ate a little extra electricity in a supermarket car park while we had coffee and a bun in the cafe. We arrived at lunchtime and afterContinue reading “A very satisfactory day”
