Absolutely shuttered

Today’s guest picture comes from my sister Mary who found a heron in Regents Park which has taken to the law.  Well, at least it is sitting on the bench. In contrast to the yesterday’s gloom, today dawned bight and sunny and the day was made even sunnier when Dropscone arrived with treacle scones forContinue reading “Absolutely shuttered”

Hitting the bottle

Today’s guest picture comes from the Edmonton busker and bicyclist, Tuckamoredew, a man who sings gaily to himself while pedalling through deep snow in subzero temperatures in the dark.  But even he was a bit alarmed when he passed these two characters at night. The wind was still from the east today and the dayContinue reading “Hitting the bottle”

Peely wally knees see the light

Today’s guest picture comes from my son Tony, who is having a well earned rest on Cyprus with Marianne.  There they need umbrellas to shelter them from the sun, a novel idea to us. We had a genuinely warm and pleasant day today which was a great treat.  I didn’t make the fullest outdoor useContinue reading “Peely wally knees see the light”

I nearly did two or three things today

Today’s guest picture comes from Venetia, an old friend of my sister Mary, who recently went on a nature and photography course in the Highlands and has kindly let me see some of her excellent results. After yesterday’s adventurous walks round Edinburgh, I had a thoroughly domestic day today.  Mrs Tootlepedal left shortly after breakfastContinue reading “I nearly did two or three things today”

Goodbye sunshine

Today’s guest picture shows Dunstanburgh Castle on the north-east coast of England.  Gavin walked past it in the sunshine while on the Craster coastal walk yesterday. The authorities have decided that a single day of crisp sunshine was all that we deserved and we were back to the warm, wet and grey weather again today. Continue reading “Goodbye sunshine”

Eyes down

Today’s guest picture shows Queentown’s harbour taken in the evening by my brother Andrew when he visited the town earlier this month.. Another windy day discouraged me from going cycling and I was secretly quite pleased as I am going through one of those periods when I am feeling a bit tired.  Doing nothing moreContinue reading “Eyes down”
