Today’s guest picture is another from our son Tony’s recent Highland holiday and a reminder of the good weather he and Marianne enjoyed while they were there. We could have done with a bit of that good weather here today, but instead we got another day of rain showers. I filled the feeder and hadContinue reading “A diversion”

Four bridges and a tootle
Today’s guest picture comes from my brother Andrew. He was visiting the village of Melbourne today, and enjoyed its old world atmosphere (though he wouldn’t like to live there). We had a grey and windy day here today. It was very windy at times, but not windy enough to do any noticeable damage. I cycledContinue reading “Four bridges and a tootle”
A fairly tame tiger
Today’s guest post comes from our son Tony. He wants to point out that regardless of any passing storms, the sun was still shining in East Wemyss yesterday. We didn’t have any sign of sunshine here today, but it was a little bit warmer than it has been, and although it was very grey, itContinue reading “A fairly tame tiger”
At last a decent dose of sunshine
Today’s guest picture of table grapes comes from Langholm exile Tom in South Africa. He tells me that the grapes are grown in paper bags to avoid bird damage. It was quite a bit brighter than it has been here when we got up today, but it was not sunny. Two pairs of jackdaws wereContinue reading “At last a decent dose of sunshine”
More complaints from the knee department
Today’s guest picture comes from my sister Mary. A day or two ago, she found himself walking along a canal on what she described as a dull day. We had a grey and windy day here today, theoretically quite warm, but feeling rather chilly in the brisk breeze. Mrs Tootlepedal had a busy morning writingContinue reading “More complaints from the knee department”
Slow progress
Today’s guest picture comes from our son Tony. He gets up early, and was out in time to enjoy this fine sunrise at East Wemyss this morning. I wasn’t up early, and even if I had been, there wouldn’t have been a fine sunrise to enjoy here as we had another grey and chilly day.Continue reading “Slow progress”
Not quite all there
Today’s guest picture comes from my sister Susan. She was very impressed by this cheerful stall which she encountered on an outing. She didn’t tell me whether she had sampled its wares. We were greeted by a sunny morning with cloudless blue skies here today, and a crisp coolness to go with it. Once again,Continue reading “Not quite all there”
Taking the long view
Today’s guest picture comes from my brother Andrew. He was tempted by this large pre-Halloween spider mallow shortcake but a quick look at the nutrition information revealed that he would have to take two or more days to eat it to stay within his health guidelines, so he gave it a miss. I had aContinue reading “Taking the long view”
A walk and a sing
Today’s guest picture comes from Zyriacus. It shows the Leichlingen bridge across the Wupper river. It was built in 1926 and he tells me that it was built of concrete because at that time the river was so contaminated that they feared that a metal bridge would corrode. He says that things are better now.Continue reading “A walk and a sing”
